Diseases/First Aid/Immunizations

Communicable Diseases

All students should remain at home for at least 24 hours symptom free after they have had any illness accompanied by vomiting, diarrhea, or fever.

Should your child develop or acquire chicken pox, measles, pink eye (conjunctivitis), strep throat, scarlet fever, unknown or undiagnosed rash, please call the school nurse.

First Aid/Emergency Treatment

The School nurse is available full time to provide first aid and support to students who become ill or injured during the school day. Parents will be notified if further medical care is needed, so it is important that each child's Health Assessment form be kept up to date at all times.

Parents who will be away from home for an extended period of time are encouraged to notify the school nurse in writing of alternate emergency phone numbers and temporary guardians.

If your child is sick with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or fever, please call me at 475-4900 or 347-2640.  Please make sure that your child is free from these symptoms at least 24 hours before returning to school.

Immunizations

The following immunizations must be completed and verified by the school nurse before a student may attend classes:

  • 5 doses of tetanus, or 4th dose after 4th birthday and at least 10 years apart from that point forward
  • 5 doses of diphtheria,  or 4th  dose after 4th birthday and at least 10 years apart from that point forward
