Bio

When I was a child, I never would have guessed I would be calling Enterprise, Alabama, my home.  It has been a long road leading me to this southern Alabama town.  I was born in small town in Michigan.  When I was eleven years old, my family moved to Birmingham, Alabama.  I instantly fell in love with the South: its culture, the food, and the hospitality.  I graduated in 1999 from Pelham High School, knowing that I was destined to be a teacher.

My passion for teaching and a love for music led me to enroll in the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  I was involved in many activities at UA, but the activity that I loved best was playing the French horn in The Million Dollar Band.  I learned how to be a leader, which has had a great impact on my teaching.

A few months before graduating with my B.S. in Education, I attended a job fair at the university.  There, I met Dr. Phares, and my life was forever changed.  Dr. Phares told me of this wonderful town called Enterprise.  He spoke very highly of the community, the schools, and all of the town's citizens.  He told me, "You just have to see it."  So, a few weeks later, I traveled to Enterprise, and I knew this would be my new home.

Since my move here in 2004, I have undergone many changes.  In January 2008, I received my Master's degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.  I am currently working on obtaining another Master's degree in teaching students that have English as a second language (ESL). I strongly believe in the power of continuing education, and I am so excited to be on this incredible journey. In the future, I would like to become the ESL Program Director or Curriculum Specialist for the Enterprise City School System.

On July 16, 2010, I received a very special gift from God - my son, Cooper. He is an active little boy who teaches me new things every day.
