Students will be called (location to be announced each day) for pictures of students that participate in the Premature Awareness Dress-Up Days!

Feel free to take selfies and upload to social media and tag us, the March of Dimes, and Alabama FBLA!

FBLA-March of Dimes

Premature Awareness Week

November 13-17

Monday, 13 Twins Day

You and a friend dress like twins!

Announcement: Twins, triplets, and other multiple birth pregnancies are at higher risk of being born premature. More newborns die from premature birth than any other cause.

Tsday, 14 Nutty Day-Farmer Appreciation

Dress like a farmer and show some love for farmers and peanuts on this nutty farmer appreciation day! See a FBLA Adviser in the Business Department for a pack of fresh roasted peanuts! (while supplies last).

Announcement: Peanuts are a source of folic acid which helps the body make healthy new cells. It is important for women to get enough before and during a pregnancy to prevent major birth defects called neural tube defects including spina bifida. A great source of folic acid is peanuts, whether raw, boiled, or roasted! Have a great and nutty day!

Wednesday, 15 CrAzY Sock Day

Looking silly to save babies: pull out your zaniest socks and sport them proudly!

Announcement: While the rate of premature births has been increasing, surveys show that most people have no idea how widespread or how serious the problem is. Tell a friend what you have learned about premature birth.

MISSION MOMENT: During 1st Block, colleting pennies to twenties for Babies!

Thursday, 16 PREMATURITY AWARENESS DAY: All out in Purple!

See who can wear the most purple – from their toes to their head! Think socks, shoes, shirts, accessories, even hair color… if you can wear it, it should be purple!

Announcement: Premature birth is when the baby is born before 37 weeks; a typical pregnancy lasts 40 weeks.

Friday, 17 Blue Jeans for Babies

Wear any Blue Jeans for Babies T-shirt or a Purple shirt and Rock out your best jeans! Throw that denim jacket on too – it’s OK if they’re different denim shades, because it’s all in the name of saving babies.

Announcement: Babies born too small or too soon end up in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, known as a NICU. The March of Dimes helped in the funding and the development of NICUs in America in the 1970s.
